From a recommendation, I started reading the works of Haruki Murakami. I started "Kafka on the Shore", which despite my English teacher telling me otherwise, it does have some mention of writer Franz Kafka. I got threw  the fist 10 chapters, and it really is like no other book I've read. The two main characters are introduced in sub plots that occur in every other chapter. Kafka, a 15 year old runaway, is trying to... well runaway. He's far from home, trying to survive without getting caught and keeping a budget. In a sub plot, Nakata a sixty year old man, who was stripped of any human intelligence by a mysterious accident that occurred when he was in fourth grade searches for a lost cat. Nakata can't read or write, but he can speak to cats. Some easier than others. It's strange, but really interesting.
